Malaysia Reaffirms Willingness to Increase Self-Sufficiency in Halal Food with ASEAN Peers: Prime Minister

Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has reaffirmed the country’s willingness to increase self-sufficiency in Halal food by working with other countries, particularly within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In a speech read by Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy), at the World Halal Conference (WHC) 2020 held on the 6th of October 2020, Muhyiddin stated that the increase in self-sufficiency should also extend to Halal pharmaceuticals, Halal medical devices and Halal ingredients.
