EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, Thursday, 12 October 2017 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE MONTHLY RUBBER STATISTICS MALAYSIA, AUGUST 2017 Production of natural rubber (NR) increased 11.1 per cent in August 2017 Production of NR in August 2017 was 61,252 tonnes against 55,121 tonnes in July 2017 with an increase of 11.1 per cent. Smallholding sector was the main contributor to the NR production of 93.0 per cent. Average monthly price of kilogramme Latex Concentrate was 543.52 sen per kilogramme, rose by 25.95 sen per (5.0%) from July 2017. Meanwhile, Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 went up by 9.01 sen per kilogramme to 644.25 sen per kilogramme (1.4%). Exports of NR recorded in August 2017 was 55,563 tonnes, 17.1 per cent higher than the previous month. Five main destinations of NR exports were China, Germany, Iran, U.S.A. and Finland. Domestic consumption of NR increased by 2.0 per cent to 41,715 tonnes over the same period. Rubber gloves industry remains as the main domestic consumer with consumption of 73.3 per cent. Level of NR stocks at the end of August 2017 went up by 1.1 per cent to 194,281 tonnes as compared to the previous month.
