State of Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau News Release Foreign Trade Statistics , July- September 2017 07/12/2017 Exports increased 9.4% in 2017 July-September According to the provisional foreign trade statistics results, in July-September 2017; exports were 3,952 Million KD with a 9.4% increase and imports were 2,519 Million KD with a 13.1% increase compared with July-September 2016. In July-September 2017, balance of trade was 1,433 Million KD while it was 1,385 Million KD in July-September 2016 with a 3.5% increase. In the same period, volume of trade increased 10.8% compared with the third quarter of 2016. Trade of volume was 6,471 Million KD in July-September 2017 while it was 5,841 Million KD in July-September 2016. Coverage rate was 156.9% in July-September 2017, while it was 162.2% in July-September 2016. In the third quarter of 2017, Coverage rate (excluding oil) was 16.6% while it was 15.7% in the third quarter of 2016. State of Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau News Release Foreign Trade Statistics , July- September 2017 07/12/2017 Mineral fuels and oil were forefront in exports according to chapters For July-September 2017, the top categories for exports were “Mineral fuels and oils” (3,534 Million KD) with share of 89.4% and then “Organic chemicals” (103.1 Million KD) 2.6%, “Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, parts thereof” (74.2 Million KD) 1.9%. Electrical Machinery and Equipment and Parts Thereof were forefront in imports At the same period, “Boilers, Machinery and Mechanical Appliances; Parts Thereof” has by far the highest value imported at (364.7 Million KD) with share of 14.5% and then, “Electrical Machinery and Equipment and Parts Thereof” (316 Million KD) 12.5%, “Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, parts thereof” (257.4 Million KD) 10.2%. For exports, Iraq was followed by India (51.8 Million KD), UAE (50.7 Million KD) and Saudi Arabia (46.3 Million KD). The top country for Kuwait’s imports was China (431.5 Million KD), records for imports range from United States of America (236.2 Million KD), UAE (213.1 Million KD), and Korea (South) (146.2 Million KD) Exports to GCC countries increased by 47.6% As compared with the same quarter of the previous year, exports to the GCC countries were 156.8 Million KD, while it was 106.3 Million KD, and increased by 47.6%. The share of the GCC countries was 4% in July-September 2017 while it was also 2.9% in July-September 2016. The share of Capital goods in imports was 27.5% During the same period, 27.5% of imports products were Capital goods. As compared with the same period of the previous year; Industrial supplies, Food and beverages and Consumer goods not elsewhere specified increased by 27.2%, 13.7% and 19.1% respectively.
