- Macroeconomic & Corporate News WFP welcomes $15m aid from Japan The WFP has welcomed a contribution of more than $15 million from the Japanese government that will support almost 6 million people affected by the ongoing crisis inside Syria and neighbouring countries, according to a statement released by the UN agency on Sunday. This contribution will enable the WFP to continue providing vital food assistance to the most vulnerable families inside Syria and to Syrians taking refuge in neighbouring countries. A portion will also be used to support vulnerable Jordanians who have been impacted by the crisis, the statement said. Medical tourism conference concludes with 'Amman Declaration' The Global Healthcare Travel Forum (GHTF) has endorsed the "Amman Declaration" that seeks to expand the scope of medical tourism sector in Jordan to eight internationally recognised segments. Known as the Health Travel 8 (HT8), the segments include traditional medical tourism, dental tourism, spa tourism, wellness tourism, sport tourism, culinary tourism, accessible tourism and assisted residential tourism, which serves visitors with diseases or disabilities. Held in Amman last week, the GHTF witnessed the participation of over 650 participants from 41 countries. Private Hospitals Association (PHA) President Fawzi Hammouri said the conference was a chance to promote Jordan as a destination for medical tourism. * Source: Bloomberg, Jordan Times, Zawya Disclaimer Awraq Investments and its affiliates obtain information from sources they believe to be reliable, but do not warrant its accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose, and disclaim for themselves and their information providers all liability arising from the use.
