  1. 13th IDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance Theme : Leveraging Risk-Sharing for Long-Term Investment MONDAY, 2 APRIL 2018 Ramada Hotel, Tunis Overview To achieve the targets outlined in the Sustainable Development Agenda, there is a huge need for financing with long-term maturity. There is evidence that there is no shortage of financial resources; however, due to short-termism and financialization of assets the appetite for long-term investments is low, resulting in a funding mismatch. A risksharing financing model could help resolve the mismatch between long-term funding needs and short-term available funds. The vision of Islamic finance is to offer itself as a source of stability against the danger of over-leverage and short-termism in the current global financial system. This year’s edition of the IDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance seeks to initiate the debate on how Islamic finance can create an alliance between various stakeholders in addressing the existing funding imbalance. The forum provides a platform to initiate collective efforts to find workable solutions and to discuss best approaches for funding long-term investment.
