United Nation Environment launched the Green Economy Initiative (GEI) in 2008 comprising global research and national level assistance to encourage policymakers to support environmental investments in the context of sustainable development. The Green Economy can be seen as a way to achieve a resilient economy that provides a better quality of life for all. It can also be seen as a way of linking economic, environmental and social considerations to sustainable development in such a way that long-term economic development is achieved by investing in a fair and friendly social-friendly solution.
